Active Living:

The initial phase of retirement for many people is a period during which they are committed to enjoying their freedom. Having worked at a job or career for some forty-five years, raised a family, paid mortgages, health insurance, and college tuitions, they are ready for less responsibility and more gratification. Generally agile and in good health, they seek to participate in genteel sports, travel, outdoor experiences and social activities.

Simple Elegant Design

Home for these folks is a haven, not an anchor. It is a place of comfort and quality with a sense of individuality without the burden of heavy maintenance. Set on a small lot with a yard and maybe a garden. A place of their own with a bit of elbow room and a low level of care. A property that can be left to coast while they go places and explore new ideas. A home to come back to, for rest, for entertainment, for security.

A house to support these needs is a simple place. It is small with a sense of space and a touch of quality.  A thoughtful layout pervades its plan. One can be private in the bedroom corner, or socially active in the living, dining, kitchen - a great room. A formal entry exists for greeting guests, and a second bedroom is available where visitors can stay. The master bedroom is roomy with a place to sit and ample closet space. It has a large bath to assure accessibility and comfort for the owners. A convenient laundry is available within the home. The great room is spacious, with an attractive sitting area at one end, the kitchen at the other and a generous dining space between. The cooking area is efficient, yet large enough for more than one chef. Its cabinets are roomy with lots of reachable storage.

Open Plan with a Private Domain
Each exterior wall of these compact homes has windows that bring daylight into the space from all sides. Fresh air can be introduced into the rooms, and cross ventilated throughout the home. One wall of the great room faces southeast which allows the early morning sun to penetrate, and an opportunity to capture a dramatic view. There is a covered sitting porch on the street side and sunny patio in the yard.

An oversized two car garage is provided a short distance from the living unit with room for a work bench and storage for tools, heirlooms and equipment. There is space around the house for plants and shade trees, as well as for a small vegetable garden. Walkways between the house and garage, and between the house and the town sidewalk are ramped for accessibility.

Spacious living

Durable, lasting materials have been specified which, when handcrafted by skilled workers, are transformed into simple but elegant living spaces. Maintenance is low while longevity is high. Detail is crisp. Spaces flow, movement is easy. Comfort prevails.

These are indeed homes for those who have lived thoughtful, sensible lives and who have learned to appreciate the essence of quality.
